How many units of the Lamborghini Miura were produced?

The story behind the answer

Lamborghini produced 764 units of the Miura. That total covers the limited production of the pioneering mid-engined V12 sports car between 1966 and 1972.

The Miura began as an engineering project created by Lamborghini engineers Gian Paolo Dallara, Paolo Stanzani and test driver Bob Wallace. Its transverse, mid-mounted V12 layout was highly unusual for a road car at the time. The striking Bertone body, designed by Marcello Gandini, made the production version one of the defining supercars of the 1960s.

The main versions were the P400, P400S and P400SV. The SV was the final and most developed road-going variant, with revised suspension, wider rear tyres and other performance-focused changes. The Miura’s name came from the Miura family, a famous Spanish breeder of fighting bulls, continuing Lamborghini’s bull-inspired naming tradition. Its relatively small production total helped make surviving examples exceptionally collectible.
