Genesis names three sons as Noah’s children before the Flood: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
Genesis 5:32 introduces these three sons, and the Flood narrative later says that Noah, his sons, his wife, and his sons’ wives entered the Ark. The three names are central to the genealogy that follows the Flood and to the biblical account of the spread of peoples.
The text does not present Noah as having only three children in total in every possible sense; it specifically names these three sons in the genealogy and survival narrative. Their wives are mentioned but not named in Genesis. That is why a question asking for the number of named sons has a clear answer.
Later chapters assign different roles to Shem, Ham, and Japheth through the story of Noah’s drunkenness and its aftermath. Their names also become labels for broad ancestral groupings in later biblical tradition, though modern historians do not treat those groupings as scientific population classifications.
