Stranger Things released five seasons in total.
The first season premiered in July 2016 with eight episodes, introducing Hawkins, the Upside Down, Eleven, and the mystery of Will Byers’s disappearance. Season 2 followed in 2017 with nine episodes, while Season 3 arrived in 2019 with eight. Season 4 was released in 2022 in two volumes and expanded the story with nine episodes.
The fifth season was the show’s final season. Netflix released its eight episodes in three parts: four episodes in November 2025, three on Christmas Day, and the finale on December 31, 2025, in the United States. That release pattern can cause confusion because the season was divided into volumes, but the volumes still make up one season.
The total is therefore five seasons, not six. The show’s unusually long gaps between releases, especially between Seasons 3 and 4, sometimes lead viewers to miscount special releases or assume a sixth season exists. Netflix also uses “Stranger Things 5” as the marketing name for the fifth and final season.
