Four racers are eliminated at each Knockout Tour checkpoint in Mario Kart World.
Knockout Tour begins with 24 racers and uses six intermittent checkpoints to thin the field. At every checkpoint, the four lowest-ranked drivers are removed, leaving fewer competitors for the next section of the route.
This structure distinguishes Knockout Tour from ordinary lap racing. A driver does not need to win each segment, but must stay above the elimination line when the checkpoint arrives. Position management, shortcuts, items, and knowledge of the connected roads all become important.
The mode’s name can cause a small numerical confusion because four racers leave at each checkpoint, while the total starting field is 24. The six checkpoints and four eliminations are separate figures describing the event’s progression.
