Pokémon Pokopia had 300 Pokémon available at launch.
The launch roster was selected from Pokémon Generations I through IX, giving the game a cross-generational cast rather than limiting it to the original Kanto species. These Pokémon are encountered through habitats and environmental conditions, not simply through conventional battles or capture encounters.
Pokopia's central loop asks players to improve the world so that particular Pokémon will appear. Different species prefer different surroundings: for example, a suitable arrangement of vegetation, furniture, or other objects can help attract a specific resident. This makes the roster part of the building system as well as a collection goal.
The number can be confused with later totals. The base game launched with 300 Pokémon, while subsequent downloadable content and events expanded the available roster. Later versions therefore may contain more than the original launch total, but 300 is the specific figure for the game's initial release.
