How many points did Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak score in the 2009 final?

The story behind the answer

Alexander Rybak scored 387 points in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 final.

Representing Norway with “Fairytale”, Rybak won the final in Moscow, Russia, on 16 May 2009. His 387-point total was the highest score recorded under the contest’s former 2009–2015 voting system, before later changes altered how jury and televote points were presented.

The performance combined violin playing, folk-inspired choreography and a memorable pop melody. Norway finished comfortably ahead of Iceland, which placed second. Rybak’s result was also Norway’s third Eurovision victory, following wins in 1985 and 1995.

The number is sometimes compared without accounting for changes in voting systems. A raw points total from one era cannot always be ranked directly against another, because the number of voters, participating countries and allocation rules have changed. The 387-point figure specifically belongs to the 2009 final.
