How many pieces make up the Triforce?

The story behind the answer

How many pieces make up the Triforce? Three. The Triforce is a sacred relic in The Legend of Zelda series, formed from three golden triangles: the Triforce of Power, the Triforce of Wisdom, and the Triforce of Courage. Together, they create one larger triangle and represent the virtues associated with the Golden Goddesses Din, Nayru, and Farore.

The relic is said to possess limitless power and can grant a wish to whoever touches it. However, a person whose heart lacks balance among power, wisdom, and courage cannot hold the complete relic. In that case, the Triforce splits into its three components, which seek people who embody each virtue.

The original 1986 game introduced the Triforce as two pieces: Power and Wisdom. The third piece, the Triforce of Courage, was introduced in Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. This history sometimes causes confusion, but the complete Triforce canonically consists of three pieces. Link, Princess Zelda, and Ganon are frequently associated with Courage, Wisdom, and Power respectively.
