The multiplayer feature is designed around visiting and relaxing in another player’s Pokémon world. Players can use local wireless or online play, and each visiting player can bring a Pokémon along. This keeps the social feature connected to the game’s central theme of building a shared habitat.
The number three refers to other players, not the total number of people present. A host plus three visitors makes a maximum group of four players. That wording is important because game descriptions often state the visitor limit rather than the total session size.
Online features require Nintendo Switch Online and a Nintendo Account. Pokopia also supports GameShare in certain circumstances, allowing visitors who do not own the game to participate in a shared session under Nintendo’s stated requirements.
