Five original Dragons were on the launch panel of the British programme Dragons' Den.
The original investors were Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Simon Woodroffe and Doug Richard. Together, they formed the panel seen when the British adaptation began in 2005.
The number of investors can vary in later series, and guest or replacement Dragons have appeared over the programme's history. That changing line-up is why viewers may remember a different number from particular episodes or seasons.
The term “original Dragons” refers specifically to the investors associated with the first British panel, not every investor who later appeared. Peter Jones was the only original Dragon to remain through every series, while the other four eventually left the programme.
