Five original Dragons were on the first UK panel of the television programme Dragon's Den.
The launch panel consisted of Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Peter Jones, Theo Paphitis and Simon Woodroffe. Together, they established the show's early mix of business experience and created the format's familiar atmosphere of intense questioning and negotiation.
The number refers specifically to the first regular panel, not the number of investors who have appeared across the entire UK run. The cast changed substantially over the years as Dragons left, returned or were replaced, so later promotional images can make the original lineup easy to misremember.
Peter Jones is the only member of that original five to have remained across every UK series. The others became associated with particular early seasons, but their departures do not alter the original panel count: it began with five Dragons.
