Serena Williams has won four Olympic gold medals.
She won one Olympic gold medal in singles and three in women’s doubles, partnering with her sister Venus Williams each time in doubles. Their doubles victories came at the 2000 Sydney, 2008 Beijing, and 2012 London Games.
Serena’s singles gold arrived at the 2012 London Olympics, where she defeated Maria Sharapova in the final. That victory completed her career Golden Slam in singles: winning all four major tournaments plus Olympic singles gold during her career.
A common mix-up is to count only her individual medal or to confuse gold medals with total Olympic medals. Serena’s total is four golds, all of them in tennis. She and Venus are the only women in the Open Era to win Olympic gold in both singles and doubles, and their three doubles golds form a record partnership achievement.
