The TV show Atlanta received eight nominations at the 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The nominations recognized the show’s second season, titled Robbin’ Season, which aired on FX in 2018. Atlanta competed in major comedy categories as well as writing, directing, and acting races. Donald Glover was nominated for lead actor and for directing, while Hiro Murai was recognized for directing the episode “Teddy Perkins.”
The acting nominations also included Brian Tyree Henry for supporting actor and Zazie Beetz for supporting actress. Writing nominations went to Donald Glover for “Alligator Man” and Stefani Robinson for “Barbershop.” Atlanta was also nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series, bringing its Primetime Emmy total to eight.
The number can be confused with broader Emmy tallies that include Creative Arts Emmy categories or nominations connected with other award years. In the standard 2018 Primetime Emmy count used in this question, however, Atlanta had eight nominations. The series was created by and starred Donald Glover, whose distinctive blend of surreal comedy and social commentary helped make it an awards-season standout.
