Mario Party: The Top 100 contains 100 minigames. The Nintendo 3DS compilation remakes one hundred minigames originally released in the first ten home-console Mario Party games.
Released in 2017, the game focuses on classic minigames rather than introducing a large collection of new challenges. Its selection draws from the Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii, and Wii U-era entries, with updated graphics and controls adapted for the 3DS. Wii minigames that originally used motion controls were redesigned for the handheld system.
The title can cause a common mix-up: it is not a ranking of one hundred games, nor does it include one hundred complete Mario Party board campaigns. Its main attraction is the set of 100 remade minigames. Modes such as Minigame Island, Championship Battles, Decathlon, and Minigame Match provide different ways to play them, but the total collection remains 100.
A later compilation, Mario Party Superstars, also features 100 minigames, which is why the two titles are sometimes confused.
