Five investors typically sit on the panel in the UK television series Dragon's Den.
The panel is made up of wealthy entrepreneurs and businesspeople who listen to pitches from founders. Each investor can decide whether to make an offer, ask questions, negotiate terms or decline to invest.
The exact people occupying the chairs have changed repeatedly throughout the programme's history. Some series have also featured guest Dragons, but the familiar panel format generally presents five investors together. This arrangement gives entrepreneurs several possible sources of funding while creating competition when more than one Dragon is interested.
The number should not be confused with the number of offers a contestant may receive. A pitch can attract no offers, one offer or multiple offers, and an entrepreneur may negotiate with one or more interested investors before accepting a deal.
