Five investors normally sit on the main panel of the British television programme Dragon's Den.
The panel is designed to give entrepreneurs access to several potential backers at once. Each investor can question a contestant, make an offer, decline to invest or collaborate with another investor. The five-seat arrangement also creates the programme's familiar visual identity: a row of businesspeople evaluating a pitch from behind a desk.
The individual investors have changed across series. Some have returned for many years, while others have joined for particular periods or appeared as guest dragons. Because the membership changes, the number of seats is a more stable feature of the format than the names occupying them.
A deal may involve one dragon or several. If more than one investor participates, the entrepreneurs negotiate with the combined group, but the panel still begins with five principal investor positions. This answer concerns the usual main panel, not occasional special episodes or guest appearances.
