Five investor Dragons normally sit on the main panel of the UK television show Dragon's Den.
The panel format gives entrepreneurs several potential sources of finance and expertise in the same pitch. Each Dragon can question a founder, make an offer, negotiate for a percentage of the business or decline to invest.
The exact people on the panel have changed repeatedly across the programme's history. However, the standard arrangement is a five-seat panel, even when a particular episode includes guest investors or when the production makes occasional changes to the line-up.
The number should not be confused with the number of offers an entrepreneur receives. A business may attract one offer, several competing offers or none at all. The Dragons also negotiate individually, so a pitch can result in a partnership between more than one investor.
