Eight Harry Potter feature films were produced from J.K. Rowling’s seven-novel series. The final novel, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, was adapted as two films.
The film series began with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001 and concluded with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011. Daniel Radcliffe played Harry Potter, Rupert Grint played Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson played Hermione Granger throughout the main series.
The split of Deathly Hallows explains the difference between the number of novels and films. Earlier books received one film each, while the final story was divided into Part 1 and Part 2 to accommodate its plot.
The eight-film total concerns the original Harry Potter series only. It does not include the separate Fantastic Beasts films, which are set in the same fictional wizarding world.
