Five Dragons sat on the investment panel in the first series of the British show Dragons' Den.
The original panel consisted of Peter Jones, Duncan Bannatyne, Rachel Elnaugh, Doug Richard and Simon Woodroffe. Entrepreneurs had to address the entire group, although individual Dragons could decide whether to make an offer or withdraw from negotiations.
The number of investors is an important feature of the show's early identity. Later series changed the panel by introducing new Dragons and retiring others, so viewers may remember different line-ups and incorrectly apply them to the first series.
The panel's questions usually examined the same core issues: the entrepreneur's requested investment, the percentage of equity offered, existing sales, profit margins and the company's valuation. The five-person first-series line-up established the structure later versions of the programme continued to use.
