How many bitcoins did Laszlo Hanyecz spend on the famous 2010 Bitcoin pizza purchase?

The story behind the answer

Laszlo Hanyecz spent 10,000 bitcoins on the famous 2010 Bitcoin pizza purchase.

On 22 May 2010, Hanyecz arranged for another Bitcoin user to buy two Papa John’s pizzas for him in exchange for 10,000 BTC. The trade is widely remembered as the first documented commercial transaction using bitcoin for a physical product. The pizzas cost roughly 25 US dollars at the time.

The event later became known as Bitcoin Pizza Day. Its modern significance comes from hindsight: bitcoin’s value rose dramatically after 2010, so the coins would eventually have been worth vastly more than the pizzas. That comparison does not change the original transaction’s price or prove that Hanyecz lost money in a conventional investment sense; he was helping test bitcoin as a medium of exchange. Hanyecz later made additional pizza purchases using bitcoin.
