How large is the screen on the Nintendo Switch Lite?

The story behind the answer

The Nintendo Switch Lite has a 5.5-inch touchscreen.

Nintendo released the Switch Lite in September 2019 as a smaller, lighter member of the Switch family. Unlike the original Switch, it is designed exclusively for handheld play and has permanently attached controls. Its display is smaller than the original model’s 6.2-inch screen and the Nintendo Switch OLED Model’s 7-inch screen.

The Switch Lite screen keeps the original system’s 1280×720 resolution and capacitive touch functionality. Its reduced size helps make the console more portable, while the integrated controls eliminate the need for separate Joy-Con controllers for ordinary play.

A common mix-up is confusing screen size with resolution: 5.5 inches describes the diagonal measurement, while 1280×720 describes the number of pixels. The Switch Lite can play Switch software that supports handheld mode, although some games require separate controllers for every feature.
