Grand Theft Auto Advance was released for which Nintendo handheld?

The story behind the answer

Grand Theft Auto Advance was released for the Game Boy Advance.

Released in October 2004, Grand Theft Auto Advance was developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Rockstar Games. It was designed specifically for Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance, making it the only Grand Theft Auto title created for that handheld.

The game uses a top-down viewpoint reminiscent of the first two Grand Theft Auto games, partly because the handheld’s hardware could not deliver the fully 3D presentation of Grand Theft Auto III. Its story takes place in Liberty City in 2000, one year before Grand Theft Auto III, and follows an original protagonist named Mike.

A common mix-up is confusing the platform with the game’s setting. Liberty City is the fictional city where the story occurs; Game Boy Advance is the Nintendo hardware on which the game was released. The Nintendo DS later received Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, but not Grand Theft Auto Advance.
