From which webcomic did the Pepe the Frog meme originate?

Pepe the Frog originated in Matt Furie's webcomic Boy's Club. Furie created Pepe around 2004 and introduced him through early comics posted on Myspace in 2005 before Boy's Club #1 was published in 2006.

Pepe began as a laid-back frog character living with animal roommates. One early comic showed him using the bathroom with the door open and explaining his behavior with the phrase “feels good man,” which became closely associated with the character.

The meme spread online from 2008, especially through 4chan, where users adapted Pepe's face into many emotional versions, including Sad Pepe, Angry Pepe, and Smug Pepe. A common mix-up is crediting 4chan as Pepe's origin; the forum helped popularize the character, but Furie's webcomic came first.

Pepe later became entangled with political and extremist imagery, despite Furie's original comic being unrelated to that use. The character's early comic-book home remains Boy's Club.
