Omega Force’s experience with sandbox games was cited during Pokémon Pokopia’s development.
Game Freak partnered with Omega Force partly because Omega Force had experience creating games built around open-ended environments and construction systems. That experience was especially relevant to Pokopia, where players alter terrain, build facilities, and organize habitats for Pokémon.
The development connection is often discussed alongside Dragon Quest Builders 2, a title associated with Omega Force’s sandbox expertise. Pokopia is not simply a clone of that game, however: it combines construction with Pokémon relationships, habitat requirements, customization, and life-simulation mechanics.
The word “sandbox” describes the player’s freedom to shape the world and choose how to develop it. It does not mean that Pokopia lacks a story or structured progression; the game includes objectives and areas that open as the player restores the world.
