Eazy-E was a member of which rap group?

The story behind the answer

Eazy-E was a member of the rap group N.W.A. The Compton, California group became one of the most influential acts in West Coast hip-hop and helped establish gangsta rap as a major force in popular music.

Eazy-E, born Eric Wright, co-founded Ruthless Records in 1987 and helped assemble N.W.A with Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Arabian Prince, DJ Yella, and MC Ren. The group's early work appeared on N.W.A. and the Posse, released in 1987, before its landmark album Straight Outta Compton arrived in 1988.

N.W.A. became famous—and controversial—for songs such as “Fuck tha Police,” which criticized police brutality and racial profiling. Eazy-E was a prominent performer and business figure in the group, while also pursuing a solo career. His 1988 album Eazy-Duz-It was produced largely by Dr. Dre and became a major success.

N.W.A. broke up after internal disputes and departures by key members. Eazy-E died in 1995 at age 30. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2016, cementing its place in music history.
