At which university did C.S. Lewis begin teaching in 1925?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis began teaching at the University of Oxford in 1925. He became a fellow and tutor in English at Magdalen College, Oxford, and remained associated with the university for decades.

Lewis studied at Oxford after serving in the British Army during World War I. His academic work focused on English literature, medieval and Renaissance texts, and literary history.

In 1954, he left Oxford for a chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature at Magdalene College, Cambridge. This later Cambridge appointment is why both Oxford and Cambridge appear prominently in accounts of his academic career.

Lewis continued to write fiction, literary criticism, and Christian apologetics alongside teaching. His Oxford friendships, including his relationship with J.R.R. Tolkien, also shaped the intellectual setting in which several of his major works developed.
