At which stadium were Frank Liberto's 1976 nachos marketed?

The story behind the answer

Frank Liberto’s 1976 nachos were marketed at Arlington Stadium.

Arlington Stadium in Arlington, Texas, was the home of the Texas Rangers when Liberto introduced his concession-friendly version of nachos. The stadium provided an ideal testing ground: baseball crowds wanted food that could be served quickly, carried easily, and eaten from the seats without utensils.

Liberto’s adaptation paired tortilla chips with a prepared cheese sauce and became associated with the modern stadium nacho. Unlike the original Piedras Negras preparation, which used shredded cheese and jalapeño slices, the stadium version emphasized speed, consistency, and portability. That format later spread widely through sports venues, cinemas, and other concession businesses.

The stadium is sometimes confused with other famous baseball parks because the product became a nationwide staple. Arlington Stadium, however, is the specific venue tied to the 1976 launch. It was the Rangers’ home before the team moved to the Ballpark in Arlington, now known as Globe Life Field’s broader ballpark legacy. The original stadium was demolished in 1994.
