At which Oxford college did C.S. Lewis teach as a fellow and tutor?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis taught as a fellow and tutor at Magdalen College, Oxford.

Lewis was elected a fellow and tutor in English at Magdalen College in 1925 and remained there for nearly three decades. The college became central to his academic career, daily routine, friendships, and writing life. He held tutorials, taught literature, and participated in the intellectual community of Oxford.

Magdalen College is one of the University of Oxford’s constituent colleges and was founded in the fifteenth century. Its grounds, including the River Cherwell and the college’s famous deer park, are strongly associated with Oxford’s historic landscape.

Lewis later moved to Cambridge in 1954 to become the first holder of the newly established Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English. That later appointment can lead readers to confuse his Oxford college with his Cambridge position.
