At which Oxford college did C.S. Lewis serve as a fellow and tutor from 1925 to 1954?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis served as a fellow and tutor at Oxford’s Magdalen College from 1925 to 1954.

Lewis was elected to a fellowship at Magdalen College in 1925, shortly after completing his studies and winning academic distinctions at Oxford. He taught English literature there for nearly three decades, developing a reputation as a demanding and memorable tutor.

His Oxford years included the period in which he formed close friendships with J.R.R. Tolkien, Owen Barfield, and other writers. Lewis also wrote or developed several important works while at Oxford, including The Allegory of Love, The Problem of Pain, The Screwtape Letters, and the early Narnia books.

In 1954, Lewis left Oxford for Cambridge, where he became the first holder of the chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Magdalene College. This Oxford-to-Cambridge move is an important distinction because the two colleges have similar names but belong to different universities.
