At which Oxford college did C.S. Lewis hold a fellowship from 1925?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis held a fellowship at Oxford’s Magdalen College from 1925.

Lewis was elected a Fellow and tutor in English at Magdalen College, Oxford, in 1925. He remained there for nearly three decades, teaching students and developing the scholarly and literary career that made him internationally known. His Oxford years included both academic research and the writing of influential fiction and Christian books.

Magdalen became an important setting in Lewis’s life. He walked along the college’s grounds and waterways, and he met fellow writers there, including J.R.R. Tolkien, who was a close colleague in Oxford. Their conversations and the wider Inklings circle helped create a productive environment for discussing mythology, literature, and Christian belief.

Magdalen College is often confused with the Oxford colleges where other famous writers worked. Lewis later moved to Cambridge in 1954, but his long Oxford fellowship was specifically at Magdalen.
