At which Oxford college did C.S. Lewis hold a fellowship and teach English?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis held a fellowship and taught English at Magdalen College, Oxford.

Lewis was elected a Fellow and Tutor in English Literature at Magdalen College in 1925. He remained there until 1954, teaching students and developing the reputation that later made him one of Oxford’s most prominent literary scholars and Christian writers.

Magdalen is one of Oxford’s constituent colleges and is known for its medieval buildings, deer park, and May Morning traditions. Lewis’s work there included tutorials in English literature, a central part of the Oxford teaching system. His academic expertise covered medieval and Renaissance literature as well as literary history.

In 1954 Lewis left Oxford for Cambridge University, where he became the first holder of the Chair of Medieval and Renaissance English at Magdalene College, Cambridge. The similar names can cause confusion: his long Oxford appointment was at Magdalen College, while his Cambridge chair was at Magdalene College.
