Beyoncé headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2018, in performances later nicknamed Beychella.
She performed at the California festival on April 14 and April 21, 2018. Her elaborate show included a marching-band concept, a large ensemble of musicians and dancers, and a repertoire spanning her solo work and Destiny’s Child songs.
The performance was especially notable because Beyoncé had postponed her planned 2017 appearance after becoming pregnant with twins. Her 2018 return became one of Coachella’s most discussed headline sets and was widely praised for its musical scale and cultural references.
The concert later formed the basis of Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé, released by Netflix in 2019. Beychella is an informal nickname, not the festival’s official name; the official event is Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.
