At which Hawkins general store does Joyce Byers work in "Stranger Things"?

In "Stranger Things," Joyce Byers works at Melvald's General Store in Hawkins.

Melvald's is a retail shop in downtown Hawkins where Joyce is employed as a clerk during the first season. The job reflects her role as a hardworking single mother supporting Jonathan and Will while her family faces financial pressure and the aftermath of her divorce from Lonnie Byers.

Joyce's everyday workplace is quickly pulled into the supernatural mystery. After Will disappears in November 1983, she becomes convinced that he is still alive and trying to communicate with her. Her determination leads her to investigate strange phone calls, flickering lights, and messages appearing through the walls, even when others dismiss her as unstable.

Viewers sometimes confuse Melvald's with other Hawkins businesses, including Hawkins Hardware, Bradley's Big Buy, and the Palace Arcade. Joyce later changes jobs and circumstances, but Melvald's is the store most closely associated with her early storyline and the search for Will.
