Beyoncé headlined the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival performance later called Homecoming.
Her two April 2018 Coachella sets were widely praised for their scale, live musicianship, choreography, and celebration of historically Black colleges and universities. She became the first Black woman to headline the festival, giving the performance major cultural significance beyond its music-festival setting.
The concert was later documented in the 2019 Netflix film Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé. A live album with the same title accompanied the documentary and included performances from the event.
The performance is sometimes referred to simply as “Beychella,” a fan-created nickname. The official festival was Coachella, held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California.
