At which English boarding school did Roald Dahl study from 1929 to 1934?

The story behind the answer

Roald Dahl studied at Repton School in Derbyshire from 1929 to 1934.

Repton was the boarding school Dahl attended after his earlier education at schools in England and Wales. His school years later became important source material for Boy, where he described teachers, punishments, school customs, and episodes from his childhood.

Dahl’s account of Repton includes his memories of the school’s culture and of Geoffrey Fisher, who was then headmaster and later became Archbishop of Canterbury. Some school experiences also influenced the atmosphere and authority figures in his fiction.

Repton is sometimes confused with Eton or Harrow because all three are well-known English boarding schools. Dahl did not attend either of those institutions; his documented secondary-school years were spent at Repton.
