At which Cambridge college did C.S. Lewis hold a fellowship and teach?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis held a fellowship and taught at Magdalene College, Cambridge.

Lewis was elected a fellow of Magdalene College in 1954, after his earlier academic career at Oxford. He became the college’s first Cambridge professor of Medieval and Renaissance English, a position he held until his death in 1963.

His Cambridge appointment expanded his academic influence beyond the Oxford environment where he had spent most of his professional life. At Magdalene, he continued scholarly work in English literature while also writing widely read fiction and Christian apologetics. The college is located beside the River Cam and is one of the historic colleges of the University of Cambridge.

Lewis’s Cambridge role is sometimes confused with his Oxford posts. He taught at Magdalen College, Oxford, for many years; Magdalene College, Cambridge, was the later institution. The similar names are the source of a frequent mix-up.
