At which Cambridge college did C.S. Lewis hold a fellowship after leaving Oxford?

The story behind the answer

C.S. Lewis held a fellowship at Magdalene College, Cambridge, after leaving Oxford.

In 1954, Lewis became the first holder of the Cambridge chair of Medieval and Renaissance Literature. The appointment brought him from Oxford to Cambridge, where he was elected a Fellow of Magdalene College. He held the Cambridge professorship until his death in 1963.

Lewis’s move did not end his connection with Oxford. He continued to live at The Kilns, his home near Oxford, and traveled to Cambridge for his academic duties. The Cambridge appointment recognized his scholarship in medieval and Renaissance literature, a field that had shaped his education and professional work.

Magdalene College is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge. It should not be confused with Magdalen College, Oxford, where Lewis had previously been a Fellow and tutor. The two institutions have similar names but belong to different universities, making them a frequent source of confusion in biographies of Lewis.
