At the 2026 SAG Awards, which category did Jessie Buckley win for Hamnet?
Answer
Female Actor in a Leading Role
At the 2026 SAG Awards, Jessie Buckley won Female Actor in a Leading Role for Hamnet.
Buckley played Agnes Shakespeare in the historical drama Hamnet, directed by Chloé Zhao. The film imagines the family life surrounding William Shakespeare and his wife, Agnes, while focusing on grief, marriage, and artistic creation.
The award category recognizes an individual performance in a leading film role. It is separate from the supporting-actor categories and from the ensemble prize, which honors the combined work of a film’s cast. Buckley’s fellow nominees included Rose Byrne, Kate Hudson, Chase Infiniti, and Emma Stone.
The 2026 ceremony was the first held under the Actor Awards name, although it was still widely called the SAG Awards. Buckley’s win was one of the ceremony’s major film acting results, while Hamnet also competed for cast and supporting-actor honors.
