Assassin’s Creed Unity is set during which major historical event?

The story behind the answer

Assassin’s Creed Unity is set during the French Revolution.

Released in 2014, Unity follows Arno Dorian, an Assassin active in Paris during the late 18th century. The story begins before the revolution and continues through major upheavals, including the fall of the Bastille and the Reign of Terror.

Paris is the game’s central setting, recreated with landmarks such as Notre-Dame de Paris and the Palace of Versailles. The game introduced cooperative missions for up to four players and emphasized coordinated movement and stealth.

The French Revolution began in 1789 and led to the abolition of the French monarchy in 1792, followed by years of political violence and warfare. Unity uses real historical figures and events, but its Assassin–Templar plot and characters are fictional. The game should not be confused with Syndicate, which is set in Victorian London.
