Assassin's Creed Origins is set mainly in which ancient country?

The story behind the answer

Assassin's Creed Origins is set mainly in ancient Egypt.

The game follows Bayek of Siwa, a Medjay who becomes involved in the origins of the Hidden Ones, the organization that later develops into the Assassin Brotherhood. Its story takes place during the first century BCE, amid political conflict involving Cleopatra and Ptolemy XIII.

Players explore a large version of Egypt that includes Alexandria, Memphis, Cyrene, the Nile Delta, and desert regions. The setting combines historical places with fictionalized missions and characters, allowing the game to depict both rural communities and major Hellenistic cities.

Origins is set before every earlier historical period shown in the main series, which is why it is called Origins. It does not depict the later Roman Empire at its height; instead, its story takes place during the transition from Ptolemaic rule toward Roman influence.
