Taylor Swift’s “august” is track eight on Folklore. Its position makes it the album’s eighth song, matching Swift’s status as the album’s eighth studio album at the time of release.
Folklore was released as a surprise album on July 24, 2020. “August” appears among the record’s fictional, interconnected stories rather than as a conventional autobiographical confession. The track follows “The Last Great American Dynasty” and precedes “This Is Me Trying” in the standard album sequence.
The song’s placement is sometimes confused with its release date or its recurring August streaming boost. “August” is not the eighth song because it was released in August; it was released in July 2020. Its annual popularity rise comes from the song’s title and late-summer subject matter.
