Apple, one of the world's largest companies by market capitalization, was co-founded in 1976 by which two Steves?

The story behind the answer

Apple, one of the world's largest companies by market capitalization, was co-founded in 1976 by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak.

Ronald Wayne was also a co-founder, although he left the company shortly after its creation. Jobs handled much of Apple’s public vision and business direction, while Wozniak designed the electronics behind the Apple I and Apple II.

The company began in Los Altos, California, and incorporated on January 3, 1977. Its early success came from making personal computers more approachable for ordinary users. The Macintosh, introduced in 1984, expanded Apple’s identity beyond hobbyist computing.

A common mix-up is to name only Jobs. Wozniak was the key engineering co-founder, and Wayne’s brief role is why some historical accounts describe Apple as having three founders. Apple later became a major force in smartphones, tablets, services, and wearable technology.
