Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and which engineer designed the Apple I computer?

The story behind the answer

Apple co-founder Steve Jobs and engineer Steve Wozniak designed the Apple I computer.

Wozniak built the Apple I largely by himself in 1975. The machine was a single-board computer, meaning many essential components were placed on one circuit board. Jobs recognized its commercial potential and helped arrange its sale.

The Apple I was introduced at the Homebrew Computer Club in Palo Alto, California. Apple later sold the boards through the Byte Shop, an early computer retailer. Unlike later Apple computers, the Apple I generally required buyers to provide a keyboard, display, and power supply.

A common mix-up is crediting Jobs alone with the invention. Jobs was central to the business and product vision, but Wozniak was the primary electronics designer. The Apple I preceded the Apple II, whose polished design helped establish Apple as a major personal-computer company.
