And you thought your parents were embarrassing was used for which film?

“And you thought your parents were embarrassing” was used for the film *Meet the Fockers*.

Released in 2004, *Meet the Fockers* is the sequel to *Meet the Parents* (2000). The comedy follows Greg Focker, played by Ben Stiller, as his fiancée Pam’s tightly controlled father, Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), meets Greg’s decidedly unconventional parents, Bernie and Roz Focker, played by Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand.

The tagline refers to the clash between the two families. Jack is rigid, suspicious, and obsessed with control, while Bernie and Roz are open, outspoken, and uninhibited. Their meeting creates the film’s central comic tension—and makes the title’s joke immediately clear.

A common mix-up is confusing this tagline with *Meet the Parents*, the original film that introduced Greg, Pam, and Jack. *Meet the Fockers* is the movie associated with this specific line. It was directed by Jay Roach and was followed by *Little Fockers* in 2010.
