Albania is located on which continent?
Answer
Europe
Answer
Europe
Albania is located on the continent of Europe. It lies in southeastern Europe on the Balkan Peninsula, with coastlines along the Adriatic and Ionian seas.
Albania shares land borders with Montenegro to the northwest, Kosovo to the northeast, North Macedonia to the east, and Greece to the south and southeast. Across the Adriatic Sea to the west are Italy and the Italian peninsula. Its capital and largest city is Tirana.
The country covers about 28,748 square kilometres and is known for a rugged, mountainous landscape. Mount Korab, on the border with North Macedonia, is Albania's highest point at 2,764 metres. The country's western lowlands reach the Adriatic coast, while the Albanian Alps and other mountain ranges dominate much of the interior.
A common mix-up is identifying Albania as part of Asia because it is near the eastern Mediterranean. Geographically, however, Albania is firmly European and is generally grouped within southeastern Europe and the Balkans.
