According to the Bible, who built the Ark before the great flood?

The story behind the answer

According to the Bible, Noah built the Ark before the great flood.

In Genesis, Noah is introduced as a righteous man living in a violent generation. God instructs him to construct a large vessel and bring aboard his wife, his sons, his sons’ wives, and representatives of the animal world. Noah follows the instructions and survives the flood with his household.

Noah is presented as the central human figure in Genesis chapters 6–9. His three sons are named Shem, Ham, and Japheth. After the flood, Noah offers a sacrifice, and God establishes a covenant with him and with every living creature.

Noah also appears in the Quran, where he is called Nuh, and in later Jewish, Christian, and Islamic traditions. The biblical Noah should not be confused with Noah’s Ark as an object: Noah is the person, while the Ark is the vessel he builds.
