According to Genesis, Noah’s youngest son was Ham. Genesis 9:24 identifies Ham as Noah’s youngest son after describing an incident involving Noah and his sons.
Noah’s three sons are traditionally listed as Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They appear together in the Flood narrative as members of Noah’s household who enter the Ark and survive. After the Flood, Genesis presents them as the ancestors of nations known to the biblical authors.
A common mix-up is confusing Ham with Canaan. Canaan was Ham’s son, not Noah’s son. Genesis later describes Noah’s curse as falling on Canaan, which is why the two names can be linked in discussions of the passage. The text does not call Ham the father of all the nations associated with him in exactly the same way; genealogical traditions and later interpretations expand the account.
