OneRepublic performs “Apologize” with Timbaland. The song was originally written and recorded by OneRepublic, but Timbaland’s 2007 remix turned it into the internationally famous collaboration commonly credited as “Timbaland Presents OneRepublic” or “Timbaland featuring OneRepublic.”
Ryan Tedder wrote the song, and OneRepublic first released its original version in 2006. Timbaland then rearranged the track for his album Shock Value, adding a stronger R&B-influenced production, new rhythmic elements, and backing vocals. That remix became the version most listeners recognize from radio and its music video.
A common mix-up is calling “Apologize” exclusively a Timbaland song or exclusively a OneRepublic song. Both descriptions refer to different aspects of its release history: OneRepublic created the original, while Timbaland produced and presented the hit remix. The collaboration helped establish OneRepublic internationally and became one of the defining pop-rock crossover singles of the late 2000s.
