Psylocke reads War's mind after X-Force tracks him in season 2, episode 2 of X-Men '97. The team finds Abraham Kieros, better known as War, one of Apocalypse's Horsemen, and quickly defeats him. Psylocke then attempts to access his memories for information.
Her effort initially fails because War's mind is blocked. X-Force concludes that the protection is connected to Emma Frost, whose telepathy has a deeper link to War and the Horsemen program. Emma's involvement leads the team to a facility where they expect answers, but she has secretly arranged an ambush with X-Factor.
The sequence is easy to misread because Psylocke does not obtain a full briefing from War. She does penetrate his mind enough for the episode to show a brief image of a coffin, but the blocked memories leave the team dependent on Emma. Cable then orders War's execution, a decision that shocks Jubilee and highlights the increasingly lethal methods of this version of X-Force.
