Whose artwork appears on all United States Postal Service Eid stamps to date?

The story behind the answer

Mohamed Zakariya’s artwork appears on all United States Postal Service Eid stamps to date.

Zakariya is an American master of Islamic calligraphy whose work gives the USPS Eid series its consistent visual identity. Rather than depicting a portrait or a literal festival scene, the stamps emphasize Arabic script, especially the greeting “Eid Mubarak,” rendered in traditional calligraphic forms. This makes the lettering itself the central artwork.

The first USPS Eid stamp appeared in 2001, and later issues and reissues followed in years including 2002, 2006–2009, 2011, and 2013. Zakariya designed or calligraphed the series, working in scripts such as thuluth. The stamps commemorate both major Islamic festivals commonly called Eid: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

The other names in the choices are notable artists associated with Arabic or Islamic art, which makes them plausible distractors. However, USPS descriptions specifically identify Zakariya as the calligrapher whose work appears across the Eid issues. “Artwork” here includes the calligraphic design, not necessarily a painted illustration.
