The 2018 LP “Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt” is by Moby. It was released on March 2, 2018, through Moby’s Little Idiot label and Mute Records, and became his fifteenth studio album.
The record marked a return to a more melodic, vocal-driven sound after Moby’s two punk-influenced albums with The Void Pacific Choir. Its songs draw on electronic music, soul, gospel, and trip-hop textures. “Like a Motherless Child,” based partly on the traditional spiritual, was released as the first single before the album appeared.
The title is easy to confuse with “And Nothing Hurt,” a separate 2018 album by the British alternative-rock band Spiritualized. Moby’s album includes 12 tracks and features guest vocalists such as Mindy Jones, Raoul Mitte, and Apollo Jane. Later that year, Moby released “The EastWest Sessions,” a companion recording containing new versions of songs from the album, recorded at EastWest Studios.
